Happy International Men’s Day!
We live in a time when it’s hard to be a woman… but it’s also hard to be a man.
And I want to take a few minutes on this special day to recognize the role of the masculine in our world with a personal share…
You probably don’t know this but my husband Murray is really the unsung hero behind Live Your Message.
I don’t know if I ever would have created a single product, course or training program without him.
I remember the exact moment he said to me, “Marisa, you should create a course.”
We were hiking up to the Hollywood sign in LA and my first response was, “No way! Why would I want to create a course?”
I couldn’t wrap my mind around the idea. I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to learn from me.
But Murray kept encouraging me, and supporting me. He’d dreamed up this incredible vision for what our life could be, long before I saw what was possible.
So often, at key moments in my life and in my career, Murray’s been able to see a vision for me that I couldn’t see for myself.
Here’s the thing…
No matter how good I become at what I do, I’ve always maintained a certain level of humility. This isn’t a bad thing, but it can be limiting.
For the longest time, I just couldn’t see my own potential.
But because of his love and respect for me and for what I do, Murray could easily see the next level, the next vision, and the next big thing for me.
He’s constantly elevating me and cheering me on so I can rise up and become the best version of myself.
And because his belief in me never faltered all these years — not for a second — now, I can believe in myself.
This is the most precious gift I’ve ever received. It’s the most precious gift anyone can receive.
So, no matter who you are, no matter what you do, whether you’re a man or a woman…
It’s incredibly important that you build your business in partnership and surround yourself with people who can see in you what you can’t see in yourself.
As they say… fish don’t know they’re in water. If you’re a fish, you don’t see the water all around you.
You don’t see your talents, your gifts and your potential the way other people do.
The truth is, there’s a dance between the masculine and the feminine, and it’s endlessly fascinating to me.
For so much of my life, and like so many women, I’ve moved in the world of the masculine because I thought it was the only way to get where I wanted to go.
I’ve stepped into greater action, greater force, greater power to really prove myself and to succeed.
And now as I grow into my gifts, I’m realizing that I don’t need to push so hard. I don’t need to force it so much. I can surrender into the feminine. I can allow my gifts to move through me and out into the world.
I can relax and receive because I know in my heart, without a doubt, Murray is there to give me that structure and support I need.
And that’s exactly what the masculine is so beautiful at providing…
That support, that structure.
I’m so grateful to have Murray in my life encouraging me through everything, calling me out when I need to get honest with myself and most of all…
Demanding that I let go of all the things that are not serving me.
If you’re a woman watching or reading this, your practice is…
When help is offered, receive it…
When compliments are given, say thank you…
And when you’re struggling, ask for support.
You’ll be surprised at how many people genuinely want to support you. People who see you, who love you and who’ve been waiting for you to ask.
All. This. Time.
Because when you ask you will receive.
That really is one of the Laws of the Universe. Every single time I draw up the courage to ask — even when I’m scared — I always receive more help and love than I ever could have imagined.
So now, I constantly remind myself that there’s support all around me. All I need to do is to become open in asking for it and receiving it when it’s offered.
It really is that simple.
And when you can do that…
When you can balance the doing and the receiving, the masculine and the feminine, then you’ll really be able to rise up to your potential, reach your goals…
And become an unstoppable force of nature.
Let’s start finding that beautiful balance between the masculine and feminine right now…
Stop doing everything on your own for a moment, take a break from your to-do list and ask yourself…
Where do you need support in your life or business? What’s something you’re struggling with and who can you reach out to for help?
Share your thoughts in the comments below :).
And before I go, I want to take the opportunity to give a shout out to my husband Murray, to all the men in my life, and to the men in this community…
And the women too!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you :).
Now go out there and Live Your Message.
Love it? Hate it? Let me know...

Hi Marisa, An excellent post, masculine and feminine combined in the right way create an unstoppable force to get what you really want in life and business. The unity and mutual respect and support generate fuel for achievement through all areas of life. This is a message I have been promoting for several years despite business people telling me, “Great idea, it should work, its really needed, but nobody will actually buy it!” . Well they do now and its exciting to see people really get the results that really matter in business, life and love!

Totally Anthony and it can be a tricky topic for sure. But when you share from the heart and from a place of mutual respect — as you pointed out — people will really resonate and appreciate your message. Thanks so much for sharing and keep up the great work! 🙂

What an awesome reminder of the wonderful masculine support we receive. During my single parent years, my dad was this amazing masculine support and I couldn’t have survived without it. I miss him so much but will always have the legacy he left.

Thank you for the shout out to Murray and all the Men who support amazing women! As a man in the healing/therapy field, it feels so good supporting people in their life to live healthy, happy lives. But I think it’s even harder for us men to ask for help and support sometimes, so your message really hits home. I hope men take your message to heart, that asking for help doesn’t mean you are helpless!
Thinking of you both this Thanksgiving and grateful for our time celebrating together in years past! Love to you and Murray from the Headlands!-
Totally, Sam. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much and hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving as well! Much love <3
