There’s a reason why telesummits are all the rage…
Done right, you can explode your list and instantly position yourself as a leading authority… all with just a few months of your time.
The Challenge is producing an event that attracts top presenters and gets “butts in seats” as they say.
After all, there are new telesummits being announced almost every week and very few of them dare to stand out. Most are cookie-cutter affairs that barely get noticed… Most people take for granted their audience’s time and attention. But time and attention is the most limited commodity there is. It’s finite. And there’s nothing anyone can do to add another hour to the day.
So before you create that telesummit, you have to pass the “so what?” test. Why should I care? Why should I participate? Why should I attend?
It’s not about how many speakers you have lined up or how many days of content you provide, it’s about the unique branded experience you’re creating for your audience that they can’t get anywhere else. It’s the compelling reason why someone should give you 60-90 minutes of their time, not just once, but every day of your Summit.
In our second edition of “Tea Time with Marisa & Deb,” we give you the full scoop on how we made the Video Superhero Summit such a huge success and the hard lessons we learned along the way.
Leave a comment below and let us know if there’s anyone or anything you’d like us to feature in our ongoing Superhero Summit trainings or during Social Media Superhero Summit in November. Also let us know if there’s anything you’d like Deb and I to cover in our next Tea Time video chat.
Love it? Hate it? Let me know...

Hi Marisa, thank you for sharing your experience with the superhero summit. You succeeded indeed in creating a special brand for the summit and you most certainly did stand out from the other collective massive sales pitches. You were also more honest with respect to the sales and you provided value first and foremost. The sales (I actually purchased one of the offers, first ever for me) were acceptable and tolerable. I am kind of allergic to heavy constant sale pitches. For instance, even the evangelist Bruchard did not convince me because of too much pressure. And that in spite of all the value he delivers. It is just too much. You stroke a very good balance with the Superheros. 🙂 Congratulations again.
The behind the scenes in the video above shows that nothing comes for free, it is all blood, sweat and tears. But in a fun way. 🙂

Hey Marisa,
You know, you are right about the gratitude. We all get wrapped up in the thing being presented and we forget that there is a boatload of work that goes into everything.
So, I know this is late, but THANK YOU for the summit. You guys did a really kick ass job. I got a lot out of it and really appreciate it. I feel bad that I didn’t send this off to you guys sooner.
Congrats on putting on a great event and I look forward to the SM one in the fall.

I watched this video and listened to Don’s audio invitation twice so that I didn’t miss a tip! All of my questions were answered! Thank you, Deb and Marisa!
I wondered about the pricing and commissions…thanks for answering that too! Did you handle the shopping cart end of those transactions as well?
It was truly a genius event, but you know I said that already!
I did enjoy the info-graphics! It was yet another genius incentive-driven idea to get people to commit to the video event. I am eager to learn what you will do in its place for the next Superhero Summit? What would you say was the most important purpose for adding the info-graphic to the summit format?
I also wondered about the approx percentage of those presenters who did not accept the initial invitation. Can you say what the main reason was that was given not to participate? (I wonder if they wished they had said ‘yes’ now!)
One last question…it was quite clear that this was not going to be ‘one time event’ and thank you for sharing that huge tip NOT to make our own summits ‘one trick ponies’. My question is this…for the next summit, how will you (or will you) incorporate the VSS presenters and those who attended the Superhero Summit into the upcoming event other than just inviting everyone in an email? Is there ongoing engagement from participants from summit to summit?
Blue skies,

Hi Janine — Let me try to answer your questions. We did not handle the shopping cart for our partners products — they handled that themselves. The main purpose of the infographics was for promotion and as an attendance bonus. I don’t know about percentage of presenters who did not accept — almost all of them did, just a couple didn’t because it didn’t fit into their schedule and current business priorities. For the next summit, we’ll have mostly new presenters so we won’t be incorporating the old presenters. Regarding the attendees, we’ll be emailing everyone to let them know about the new event.

Many thanks for the reply!
Chatwing was mentioned in the video…what was the other chat program used for the VSS?
Can you say what plug in (if it is) for the pop up below this chat? I never saw a pop up like this before. I am intrigued.
Janine
